How to Thrive Through Uncertainty (Part 2)
Welcome to the second week of how to thrive through uncertainty. Today’s theme: come up with solutions rather than problems. Most people are conditioned to focus on problems because, well, it’s easy. What if instead, you chose to think of solutions?
Stop focusing on the suck
First of all, stop focusing on the suck. Anytime you find yourself in a struggle, challenge or obstacle, if you only focus on the suck, that’s all you’ll see. Instead, I invite you to shift your mindset, shift your perspective and think of solutions. One easy way to start this process is to ask better questions.
Instead of “Why me?” or “When will this ever end?” ask questions like “What can I do today to feel better?” or “What would (insert name of someone you admire) do?”. This immediately shifts your focus and opens you up to opportunity and possibility.
Make a conscious choice
The key in any situation is your choice. Do you choose to focus on the suck or do you choose to find opportunities? As Mary Engelbreit says, “If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.”
One final tidbit in learning how to thrive through uncertainty – adapt and innovate. That’s making the conscious choice to change your focus from problems to solutions. It allows you to think outside the box. To be open to inspired thought. Don’t miss this episode!
