How to Reflect and Transform For The New Year
As the final solo post for 2019, I wanted to share with you how to reflect and transform for the new year. The saying goes, “New Year, New You.” The truth is, if you don’t take the time to reflect on what worked and what didn’t, you’ll likely carry the same mindset and habits into the new year.
Take time to reflect
By taking the time to reflect on the last 365 days, you can clearly see what worked, and what didn’t. Then, it’s your choice if you want to evolve into a better version of you, or if you’ll repeat the same behaviors and stay the same.
Five core areas
I’m sharing with you how to reflect on the five core areas of life and then how to transform each, as you head into 2020. For starters, take inventory on the following and rank each 1-10 (1 being totally dissatisfied, 10 being extremely satisfied).
Once you’ve ranked each, you can clearly see what area you’d like to improve. Also, you can see what area of life you’re most satisfied with – understand what worked for you there and use those same skills and mindset to improve the other areas.
It’s also important to take inventory as a whole. Ask yourself the following questions:
- What area did I progress the most?
- What area did I decline the most?
- Did I take any risks?
- What were 3-5 of my biggest accomplishments that I’m most proud of?
- Do I have any unfinished business?
- What are my goals for 2020?
I go into more depth in podcast episode #198. Take the time to sit down and really do this work. By understanding where you are, you can create a vision of where you want to go. This is how you can transform in the new year.
