End Procrastination – For Good!
It’s time to end procrastination – for good! Have you ever found yourself with a big hairy audacious goal, or even a short to do list and for whatever reason you procrastinate and avoid tackling it? Then, you are frustrated with yourself for not completing tasks? It’s a vicious cycle.
Benefits of accountability
Today I’m sharing with you the benefits of accountability so you can end procrastination for good. First of all, one great way to get started is to schedule your tasks. I’ve found, if I schedule items into my calendar and block out the time, I’m far more productive than writing a long list of things or trying to keep track of it all in my head.
In addition, find an accountabilibuddy. Yes, I made this word up. It simply means, a friend or person to help hold you accountable to things you say you’re going to do. For example, if you want to train and run a 5k, find a friend to join you. That way, you have to show up for someone even on the days you don’t feel like it.
Get a mentor or coach
An additional resource is to find a mentor or coach – someone that’s done the thing you want to do. Not only can they help guide you through your blind spots, they can save you time and fast track your progress. I’ve done this countless ways – don’t reinvent the wheel and never be afraid to ask for help.
Finally, accountability is going to keep you on track. Figure out what you want – more money, a relationship, job, experiences, etc. and then create a road map on how to get there. Be specific on your end goal (timeline, dollar amount, weight lost) and make sure it’s measurable. Otherwise, your goal is always a moving target and you won’t know when you’ve reached it.
