5 Steps to Kick Your Worry Habit
This week I’m sharing with you 5 steps to kick your worry habit. Raise your hand if you’ve ever spent wasted energy worrying? If your hand isn’t raised, what else are you not owning up to?!
Turn your worry habits around
Feeling worry, stress or anxiousness is a common problem for many. Like my all time favorite quote states, “Worrying is like a rocking chair – it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.” Isn’t that a powerful visual?
This post is all about turning your worry habits around. I’ve compiled some tips and tricks the next time you find yourself in a worry state:
- Take a deep breath
- Ask yourself – do I have control or no control in this situation?
- Write it out
- Choose new thoughts
- Transfer your energy (focus)
5 tips and tricks
First of all, take a deep breath. When you can stop the thoughts that have you spiraled out of control and check in with your breath, you can gain clarity and a fresh perspective. By doing this, you stop the momentum of the worry.
Next, by asking yourself if you have control or not, can help you to reassess the situation. If you have control, begin from a calm state. If you don’t have control, be willing to let it go.
Third step – write it out. By putting pen to paper, it not only releases the stress and worry, you may be able to laugh at yourself. Were you being dramatic? Were you creating hypothetical worst case scenarios?
Fourth step, choose new thoughts. Whatever you focus on expands. If you are thinking about lack, scarcity, worry etc. you’ll get more of that. If instead, you can turn it around and think about abundance, manifesting and peace, that’s what you’ll experience.
Finally, change your focus. By doing steps one through four, you should be in a state of clarity and feel in a place of power rather than out of control.
Worry is wasted energy
Remember this, 97% of the things you worry about don’t even happen.
